I have over 25 years of senior management and business ownership experience.
With over 15 years within the Transport and Warehousing industries, 3 years in Franchising as General Manager, and running my own businesses, I understand the challenges that organisations and business owners face when it comes to keeping your staff, contractors and the general public safe.
I was born in Tauranga and left at the age of 18years and returned to the beautiful Bay of Plenty 10yrs ago.
Working with large organisations with over 2,500 staff to small privately owned businesses, I understand the restraints that you and your staff can face. I am here to work alongside you and your team to help the management of the risks posed by drugs and alcohol impairment within your business.
When the Health and Safety at Work Act 2015 (ACT) was significantly altered it brought with it huge changes to the way we do business. Making sure you are meeting these obligations and having a sound drug and alcohol policy in your employment and contractor agreements is critical. And now with the NEW Oral Fluid Drug Testing Standards AS/NZS 4760:32019 Drugwise has recognised this as the future of drug testing.
Saliva has a distinct advantage over urine as it only detects recent use and likely impairment unlike urine where the detection window is greater and not necessarily related to likely impairment (or fitness to work). Saliva (oral fluid) has a direct correlation with blood, whilst urine has no correlation. Saliva avoids unnecessary not negative readings at initial screening, hence a reduction in stand downs and laboratory confirmations. Saliva testing is less invasive and the preferred option by both staff and unions.
All of our technicians are trained and certified to NZ Standards AS/NZS4760:2019 (Saliva) and AS/NZS 4308:2008 (Urine) and use the Saliva Drug testing system VERIFIED to NZS4760:2019.
